AISES is looking for volunteer Scholarship Application Reviewers! These scholarships play a big role in easing the financial impact of higher education for our undergraduate and graduate students. As a result, AISES relies on a supportive network of scholarship reviewers and implements a high-integrity, fair process. All reviews are done online.
Deadline to sign up online is May 14, 2021!
Guidelines for serving as a reviewer:
- Reviewers must have a minimum of a bachelors’ degree or three years of experience as a STEM professional.
- Reviewers must be an AISES member, STEM professional, or work with/for an AISES partnership organization (foundation, corporate donor, federal partner agency, etc.).
- Reviewers do NOT have to be Native American or Alaskan Native to serve as a reviewer-they do need to be committed to the AISES mission.
- Reviewers must sign a confidentiality agreement to keep all information confidential to protect the privacy of students.
- Reviewers must inform AISES of any potential conflicts of interest/bias if an applicant in their portfolio is a personal acquaintance or family member.
- If a reviewer has a child who has submitted an AISES Scholarship, they will not be allowed to serve as a reviewer.
- Reviewers agree that if they cannot complete their review assignments, they will inform AISES immediately as the process is time-sensitive.
- Each application will take approximately 30 minutes (on average, some more, some less) to read and score. Reviewers will be expected to read between 20-25 applications over a 4-week review period.
- The commitment, therefore, will be about 10-12 hours total.
